The Society of Saint Joseph
Bishop Patrick J. McGrath has instituted the first-ever legacy society for the Diocese of San Jose.
DEFINITION: The Society of Saint Joseph is comprised of Catholic men and women who, understanding the call to protect and preserve our faith for future generations, have made a commitment to name their local parish, a Catholic elementary school, the Diocese of San Jose, or any ministry of the Diocese as beneficiaries of a gift (of any size) in their wills or trusts, retirement accounts or life insurance policies.
We are grateful for these extraordinary gifts that come to the Church after the donors’ lifetime, bearing witness to the faith and ministries they supported and cherished during their life. Their legacy of support makes our Catholic institutions stronger, sustainable and better equipped to reach future generations with our message of faith, hope and love.

Bishops and Society Founding Members Celebrate Inaugural Legacy Mass
On October 14th, 2018 we gathered at Saint Christopher Parish as a community of faithful to thank and recognize the Founding Members of the Society of Saint Joseph at the Diocese’s first ever Legacy Mass.
Named after our patron saint, this honorary society is comprised of Catholic men and women who have chosen to make provisions in their estate plans to benefit a local parish, Catholic elementary school, the Diocese of San Jose or any ministry of the Diocese. Bishop Patrick J. McGrath and Bishop Oscar Cantú celebrated a beautiful liturgy that exuded the spirit of thanksgiving and the joy of knowing that these people will be part of this community FOREVER through their legacy.
Founding Society Members
We are thankful for the generous and inspirational gifts of these Founding Members of the Society of Saint Joseph.
Would you like to be a Founding Member of the Society? Send in your Legacy Intention Form by June 30, 2019 and we will add your name to the list!
This Society will be managed by the Catholic Community Foundation of Santa Clara County in partnership with the Office of Stewardship and Development at the Diocese of San Jose. The Catholic Community Foundation of Santa Clara County and The Roman Catholic Diocese of San Jose are independent Catholic organizations. We are pleased to partner together to fulfill our common vision for our local Church.
